The plan and The Cause

I have started a journey, for my health and to raise awareness about discriminatory laws and cultures in various states in the United States.  I will be walking 2,830 real miles in my home town, logging my distance using my Fitbit, and tracking a "virtual" journey from San Diego to Washington D.C.  I have chosen a route that by-passes Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas because of the stances they have taken about transgender rights.  I will be keeping a blog, noting how far I have walked, and where that walking would have taken me along the route.  I would be thrilled if people would sponsor my miles, making a deductible donation in my name to NCTE (see http://www.transequality.org/).  It doesn't matter if it is a penny per mile, a dollar, or a fraction of a penny or a dollar.  I hope to raise awareness on my blog of the laws in the states that I travel through virtually, and to perhaps raise a little money for NCTE to continue  the fight for transgender rights.  The blog name is sd2dc4trans.blogspot.com  When I/we have completed walking all the miles, I/we will be flying to Washington D.C. to meet with NCTE, take some pictures, and lobby with my state's legislators about transgender rights.  I am hoping that others will also join me on this virtual journey, getting a tracking device and walking the distance of the route, then meeting together in Washington DC for a photo and lobbying when we are done.  If you want to join me, just send me an email to bnice2meplease@yahoo.com, and I will add your name to the band of people who are virtually walking from San Diego to Washington D.C.  You must have a device that verifies the distances that you are walking.  (I use a Fitbit, which tracks my cumulative miles online)  So far, I have walked the distance from San Diego to Mexicali...about 107 miles in the last 20 days.  The plan is to walk about 5.5 miles a day.  Would you join me in walking or supporting, in order to raise awareness and to raise funds for transgender equality?
